Overview
“Muramyl Dipeptide is a peptide that is used as a functional component (in a composition) to promote or modulate antigen function by inducing, enhancing, and facilitating an immune response to the antigen.” Vaccines have proven to be a successful and acceptable method of preventing infectious diseases. It is cost-effective, does not induce antibiotic resistance against the target pathogen, and does not affect the normal flora in the host. Many proteins and most peptides and carbohydrate antigens do not produce sufficient antibody responses to confer immunity when given alone. These antigens elicit an immune response only if they are seen as exogenous in the immune system. Therefore, Muramyl Dipeptide is recommended.
